State Awarded $6 Million for Research Infrastructure Improvement
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) has awarded $6 million to Oklahoma to improve its scientific research infrastructure.

Industries Receive Environmental Excellence Award

Norman City Council members presented Environmental Excellence Awards to Bio-Cide International, C&C Trailers, and Yamanouchi Consumer, Incorporated.  In accordance with the Clean Water Act, the City of Norman's Industrial Pretreatment Program is required by the US Environmental Protection Agency to identify and permit 'Significant Industrial Users' of the Norman's sanitary sewer system.

Little Vacancy For Norman Merchants

Ask the average consumer what they perceive as being the one submarket in the Oklahoma City area having the lowest amount of vacant shopping center space, their answer would most likely be Edmond or far north Oklahoma City. Surprisingly, both answer are incorrect. While those areas do boast some of the highest per capita incomes, the submarket with lowest retail vacancy rate is Norman. Courtesy of The Journal Record

College Of Geoscience Awarded $75,000 NASA Education Grant

The OU College of Geoscience will receive a $75,000 grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to support the nation’s Vision for Space Exploration. The awards give opportunities for hands-on and interdisciplinary experiences in scientific, engineering and technical disciplines.”

City Development Group Hears Positive News At Economic Summit

Building up Norman is expected on all fronts this year, including city street improvements, school and hospital additions, and construction of homes and businesses. At the fourth annual conference of the “Sooner Centurions” last week officials laid out plans for the year and beyond with emphasis on growth and capital expansion.     The Centurions, a group of 100 Norman leaders organized by the Norman Chamber of Commerce, provides about $100,000 a year to supplement the $300,000 annual budget of the Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC). Progress of the National Weather Center on OU’s south campus
A camera has been installed to capture the daily progress of the National Weather Center on south campus. The University of Oklahoma (OU) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are constructing the National Weather Center to provide a consolidated, state-of-the-art facility for research, operations, education, and training.
