Storm Prediction Center Receives Grant To Improve Severe Storm Data For
Forecasters A project to improve the information used by
forecasters at the NOAA Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has been
awarded a 2005 Pioneer Fund Grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. NOAA,
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is an agency of the U.S.

Museum Could Be On Horizon A National weather museum
and science center to help establish Oklahoma as the “weather capital of the
world” is in the planning stages. The museum, estimated to cost about $50
million, would preserve the history of weather research and forecasting, and
provide an environment or education and technology, the planning documents

Dusan Zrnic Receives Presidential Rank Award Dusan Zrnic, National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) senior scientist working at the National Severe Storms
Laboratory in Norman, Okla., has received the Presidential Rank Award for
exceptional long-term accomplishments. He was among a group of federal senior

Has New Name, Enlarged Mission The merger of Yamanouchi
Pharma Inc. with Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co. will result in a stronger, more
efficient company, officers of Astellas Pharma Inc. The former Yamanouchi
plan in Norman will continue manufacturing pharmaceuticals, only more of
them-and faster, Astellas executives told a gathering of plant employees,

Holmberg Hall; Say Hello To The Donald Holmberg Hall is no more. The Donald W.
Reynolds Performing Arts Center opened Friday in its place on the University
of Oklahoma North Oval. The
arts center is the renovated and enlarged version of Holmberg Hall, which
opened in 1918. The Donald trumps the building’s older version with 20,000
square feet for the School of Dance and 5,000-square-foot stage house for
modern staging. A $12.2 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation

Delegation Tours New Arkansas Libraries A delegation of 39 representatives from the
Norman Community traveled to Arkansas April 6 to visit new public libraries
in Fort Smith and Fayetteville. The group included members of the Norman City
Council, the Mayor’s Ad Hoc Committee for Libraries, the Norman Public
